Basic Salary



Grade 12 • Diploma in Fire Technology/Higher Certificate in Fire Technology two or more credits in Higher Certificate in Fire Technology plus fire officer 1 certificate • Fire Investigation Certificate • BAA registered with the HPCSA • Registered with one accredited fire professional bodies (SAESI) • A valid driver’s license with PDP • Minimum of 2 to 4 years’ relevant experience.

Knowledge of municipal applicable legislations • Good communications skills • willingness and readiness to work long hours and under pressure • Customer focused services delivery.

Key Performance Areas

Decision making in operational task according to standards operational procedures, the fire brigade service regulations and relevant acts • Managing emergency and non-emergency incidents through the district by – working as an incident commander at major incidents – Ensuring scene safety and scene management in all incidents • Coordinating all staff training to maintain acceptable skills levels of emergency personnel including lecturing to the general public on fire safety related issues i.e. in all five centers • Performing fire prevention tasks on business premises by means of inspections to ensure compliance with regards to the applicable codes of practice • Controlling the operations and managing personnel of the emergency communications control center to maintain proper communication channels with all emergency role players • Representing the council on all safety matter with regards to occupational health and safety Act (act 85 of 1993).
