ASSISTANT MANAGER: STAKEHOLDER AND MEDIA LIAISON (NOTICE NO 29/2018/2019)

Basic Salary

TOTAL REMUNERATION PACKAGE: R 774 996.70 (ALL INCLUSIVE TOTAL)

Requirement

THE INCUBENT WILL BE REPORTING TO THE MUNICIPAL MANAGER STATIONED PLACED: MOUNT AYLIFF (MAIN OFFICE) ESSENTIAL REQUIREMENTS: Bachelor’s Degree in Communications, Journalism, Public Relations or equivalent qualifications • Post graduate qualification will be added an advantage • 5 years’ experience at Management Level in Media, Public Relations and/or government communication, of which 3 year must be at a supervisory level • Sound and knowledge of media and stakeholder relations• Knowledge of the Local Government sector and applicable legislations •Planning and organizing skills • Interpersonal skills • Must have writing skills • Computer skills with Microsoft package • Valid driver’s license

Key Competency Skills

Be central in the development and implementation of a district wide government communication strategy • Develop a stakeholder and media database for the Municipality and also coordinate regular media and stakeholder engagements to inform them about the municipal programme of action • Write articles, features for community media, mainstream media, municipal publications, update municipal website, intranet and social media platforms • Organise media briefings and engagements as when need arises • Develop, implement and evaluate the municipal communication and media management policy and protocols • Monitor and evaluate media coverage of the municipality and provide mechanism to improve negative media coverage • Coordinate sitting of communication structures/fora and also monitor implementation of fora action plans • Work with local municipalities and other organs of the state in strengthening communications fora and assist towards implementation of communications action plan • Provide communications support to outreaches of the municipality by conducting communication environmental research, planning, organizing working with various internal and external stakeholders • Develop media database and strengthen working relations with various media houses in the district and beyond • Write articles and features for main stream media, municipal newsletter, website, internal and external platforms.
