Alfred Nzo District Municipality Council has elected Councillor Simthembile Kulu to be the new Speaker of the Council, at its Special Council meeting.

This follows the resignation of the former Speaker, Cllr. Tsileng Sobuthongo, who is now the Mayor of Ntabankulu Local Municipality. Kulu – who was until today, the Member of the Mayoral Committee responsible for Intergovernmental Relations (IGR) and Communications – brings with him wealth of knowledge, having worked for local government for more than 20 years and he is also a member of the Provincial Executive Committee (PEC) of the ANC in the Eastern Cape.

Welcoming his election, Cllr. Kulu expressed gratitude to the Council for entrusting him with this enormous responsibility and thanked his predecessor for “sterling work done in ensuring that effective oversight mechanisms and systems are in place and adhered to,” he said.

Alfred Nzo Council wishes him well in his new responsibilities of serving Alfred Nzo Communities.   35050834_1168227169986154_5504421934705672192_n.jpg
