Alfred Nzo District Municipality is relieved and happy that the laboratory results found no poison or any hazardous chemical on both Ntabankulu Dam and Ntabankulu Water Treatment Works.

The district Municipality, as a precautionary measure, closed water treatment works that supply water in Ntabankulu and surrounding villages after allegations of suspicious poisoning.

The allegations of suspicious poisoning followed the vandalising of the bulk pipeline that draws water from Ntabankulu Dam to the treatment works by alleged protesting people.

The treatment works will remain closed until the vandalised bulk pipeline is repaired so as to ensure sufficient water inflow to the treatment works. Water in Ntabankulu is being supplied by the backup boreholes, since Monday, 01 July 2019 and will continue receiving water through these backup boreholes until repairs are completed.
